Joan Roca Fontané is a chef. He worked with his grandparents and parents in the family restaurant that prepared Catalan food. Then he studied at the Escola d’Hostaleria in Girona, where he later was a professor. Today, along with his two brothers –Josep, the sommelier, and Jordi, the pastry chef– he runs his own restaurant, El Celler de Can Roca, in Girona. Its cuisine is a blend of traditional regional flavors with vanguard techniques, a result of constant research that is committed to innovation and creativity.
